What is RSS?RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication." It's a format that web sites and blogs use to syndicate content via news aggregation tools and services like My Yahoo. Syndication benefits users -- instead of visiting multiple web sites to see what's new, they can simply scan headlines or brief article summaries and click to read the full text. Programs that know what to do with RSS files are called "news aggregators." They let you read headlines from dozens or hundreds of news sites at one time. You simply plug in the addresses of the RSS files you want. If you don't want to install any software, you might try websites that do the aggregation for you. Yahoo lets you add RSS feeds to your personalized page. |
